Civilization III
Extrapacks
The Modpacks
The Apolyton Extrapack (Civ III)
The Extrapack-Expansion (Civ III)
Wernazuma's Extrapack (Civ III - PtW)
Sid Meier's games, and especially the Civilization game series,
are my favorite addiction. Many of his titles have had their impact on my
life: "Pirates!" - still the most genius and addictive game ever IMO,
was my favorite NES game, when I was 8 or 9 years old. Civ I was my first
computer game and made me familiar with that device, Civ II brought me into "the
community" - Apolyton.
Civilization III - with its initial weaknesses and IMHO historical inaccuracies
- finally challenged my creativity and drew my attention to "Modmaking",
which means to alter the game by using the editor and add new graphics etc. I've also tried a bit to
make my own graphics, but I'm not really talented in this. My strength is rather
the historical approach, to make the game more historically accurate while not
destroying the "civish" feeling when playing the game, so I mainly
used the graphics of other modmakers (I really hope I asked everybody for permission to do so).
The outcome of my efforts are essentially 3 "Modpacks" and a huge
World Map 260x160, because, honestly, the one that ships with the game is
simply not acceptable.

The Apolyton Extrapack for Civ
III, v.1.29f
The Extrapack was a project at Apolyton originally lead by Locutus with the
aim of increasing the amount of playable civilizations from 16 to 31, always
trying to please as many Apolytoners as possible. The 15 new civs thus were
elected democratically. Locutus then focused more on the CtP II game and
quit the project, so I took it up and this is the outcome.
I decided not to make any rules changes in the original Extrapack, because
changed rules are always a matter of taste and why should one get a rule
change he might not want, when he just wants to play with the Incas.

The Extrapack-Expansion for Civ
III, v.1.29f
While this addition was a fine thing, I didn't stop at that point. For
myself, I wanted a changed techtree, new resources and
more wonders, improvements and units. At some point I was already so advanced in my
efforts that I thought that I should share my mod with other people, so I
made this "Expansion", which is only playable together with the
Apolyton Extrapack.

Wernazuma's Extrapack
for Civ III - Play the World, v.1.21f
Originally, I had made my mods only for the original Civilization III, but
recently I also got PtW and it was not too difficult to adapt the mod to
Play the World while making only few adjustments.
